 Successful Job Search Strategies Revealed:

Discover How Easy It is Be to Blitz the Job Interview

How the 'Three Pronged' Strategy got me an interview 90% of the time, and How I prepare my Clients for the Assessments Centres that Organisations and Government Departments use.

With feelings of excitement and anticipation, you are getting ready for the job interviews.  Bring it ON, I say!

You've been sending out applications, so the next step is getting that phone to start ringing.

Don't worry, it won't be too long, if there is any delay, then feel free to follow them up...in fact, that's a strategy that I used in every single application.   Today I call it the 'Three Pronged Approach' because it's a 3 step strategy...(funny that).....

I'll explain how my strategy unfolds, why don't you grab a notepad and pen, because you may want to take a few of these points down....

This works about 90% of the time (I'll tell you in a moment who it doesn't work on...).  I would write a targeted letter explaining why I thought I was the best person for the job and I would tweak my resume to make sure it highlighted my most relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Next, I would ring the company and find out the name of the person who was responsible for hiring that position.  I would then call back, maybe the next day, and ask to speak with that person directly to find out more information about what she is looking for in the ideal candidate.  Just to let you know, I'm not been biased towards Women, when I was searching for Business Training or Administration jobs, most recruiters were female, so for the purpose of this story, I will say the recruiter is a woman.

I would weave as much charm as I could, and if the conversation was flowing, she would usually ask me some questions like:

  1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?
  2. Why are you interested in applying for this role, in particular?,
  3. What are your key strengths?

I would write down all the key words
she used in our conversation, and then tweak the cover letter and resume to include those words, and outline any additional skills or character traits that she was ideally looking for.  I would then send my application and wait for about 30 minutes.  To re-energise, I would go for a brisk walk (that's my favourite thing to do when I have been sitting at my computer for a while).

Then I would get on the phone, again!  Yes, this woman was going to find it hard to forget me.  But  as I always spoke with a sense of urgency and fully respected that she was under pressure for time, I would get straight to the point every time.

So.... I would explain to the recruiter that my email was 'playing up' and I just wanted to make sure she had rec

eived my resume okay.  I'd spend the time while she was accessing her emails to start to continue to build rapport, asking questions like 'I bet you've had hundreds of applications for this position, are you inundated?' .

She would then express exhaustion at the idea of having to go through the applications, and then I would ask her what she is ideally looking for above all else in the ideal candidate.

She would then outline the top 2 or 3 things that the decision maker had specified.  If I had these skills or experience, I would then beam with excitement and explain that I had all of those 3 desired points.  Then, with any luck, she would then start to interview me more seriously over the phone.

If I had the right set of skills, experience and industry knowledge, I would usually get an interview booked in within the next 3 days.

See, these recruiters are on a mission to fill the spot.  Sometimes they are competing with other
agencies, so they are working against the clock to find 3 super candidates they can recommend to the decision maker so they get their commission and earn their bonus.

If you know how recruiters work, you can really empathise with them, and understand why they don't always return calls.  You've got to be the one who instigates the follow up, otherwise your application gets buried over the candidates who do make calls like this.

Just to Drive Home This Point ...

Learning how to work with  Recruitment Consultants is such a key element to your job search.  Just think that every consultant knows about 20 companies in your industry, they know what's going on - because that's their job.

Make a memorable impression, get on their good side and they will recommend you to every company they can.  This is so important, that I have been interivewing a range of recruiters across a variety of industries to find out more.  This information I share with members who join us in the fortnightly webinar.

So I confidently declare that this strategy really works a treat with recruitment consultants; you should try it next time and see what happens.

In fact, I bet if you a box of Roses Chocolates that if you try it 5 times in a row, you will start to get really confident with picking up the phone and getting on side with the consultants.  When you think about it, they are the gatekeepers for so so many jobs that are not even advertised.

But this approach won't work every single time, just about 90% of the time.  To be specific, it hardly ever works in Government Departments or with Human Resource Departments, because they follow a structured process.

Okay, the 'Three Pronged' strategy will get you into more interviews than you've probably got time for, so this is where you can start to become a little choosier about the types of role you apply for.

By the way, there are a few more solid strategies that will boost your job interview invitations and I will share these with you in the Video Course 'How to Get an Interview with Your Ideal Employer'  which is included in the Job Search Success Package.  This is just one of ten video courses that you can choose to watch whenever you feel the time is right.  I've got more information on that down this page.

Right about now you probably realise that having a professional resume and cover letter is just the first step.  It's what you do with these documents that  is going to make all the difference.

Well, put your left hand on your right shoulder and give it 3 pats.

The fact that you have jumped onto the internet to seek solutions and answers to your problems means that you are proactive.

You're not someone who is going to just sit around, winge and complain about how hard your life is, you are someone who is going to do something about it.

You deserve to find all the short cuts out there that are going to save you time, money and energy in your job search.

Take a moment and think of the other candidates who will try to do it all on their own.  They are taking the long road, and will make more mistakes, waste more time, and fumble through the interviews not exactly sure whether what they said was what the interivewer really wanted to hear.

You can put your foot on the accelerator and speed through this job search process so you get into a series of highly targetted job interviews .....in as little as a week or two.

I have created a series of online video courses and reports to share with you the winning strategies that I have been using for the past 20 years.

Let me pass on what I know

I  think I read every book on job interview training, and then I went for hundreds of job interviews and honed the art of interview ettiquette .... and  communicating my most relevant skills and experience.

I got so good at interviews that when I was working as a recruitment consultant, I could tell when someone was either:

  1. Really qualified to do the job, but just not presenting themselves in an impressive manner
  2. Very comfortable in the interview process but not really qualified or experienced to do the job, and perhaps not telling the truth.
So if the candidate was shy, I would really make them relaxed and feel comfortable with me.  I would ask questions that would draw out their examples of how they have been a great employee.

I then gave them some interview training on the spot, and said that for the next interview, they would need to be comfortable in talking about their experience and promoting themselves a little bit more.

For anyone who was very confident, I would put on a different pose and simply let them talk about themselves.   I would ask for details and specific information until I detected that there were some holes in the story.  Then I would hone in and ask direct questions that highlighted any exaggerated points they were trying to make.

Over the past 10 years I have been  sharing my knowledge and experience with Students at local Universities, TAFEs and privately run Registered Training Organisations where people paid thousands of dollars for me to teach them business skills and how to secure employment that was going to set a strong foundation for their career.

In the last 5 years, I have been helping people secure professional and executive level positions around Australia through the provision of private training, coaching and group workshops.

Now I have recorded all the teachings and key elements to succeed in the job interview and offer it to you to within the comfort of your own home. This is an online course that you can access at 10 o'clock at night, when you have probably found the first minute to relax.

A key strategy we use to build your interview skills and confidence is by giving you a simulated experience of the assessment process and of the interview with the recruiter and/or hiring manager.

One of the key features of this Job Search Success package is the online behavioural assessment.  It will give you the background knowledge you need on how these assessments work before going into the interview and is similar to the process that many agencies and organisations use to screen their staff.

We'll set up an assessment  for you to sit in the comfort of your own home.... It's like having a test run of an exam before you have to officially sit it.

You will receive a report that will be fairly similar to the reports that will be made about you.

It uses the DISC  Behavioural Assessment system, and is one of the world's most popular reports because it will produce a list of job interview questions that are targetted to gain deeper insight into your strengths and weaknesses.

Once you have done this report, we will both read through it and then together we will practice how you will answer these questions that laser in on your  particular traits and preferences for conducting your work.

We call this the '9 Minute Cheat Sheet' because it only takes 9 minutes to fill out the multiple choice questionaire and it acts like a Cheat Sheet for your interview.

We'll also have a couple of conversations that  will set you up with  a some key phrases that you can walk into the interview with.

Just image how confident you'll feel that you are fully prepared and armed with some great points to explain why they should hire you above all others.

So if you're more than ready to get out of where you are working now, but are feeling a little overwhelmed with all the extra work you need to do to get into your new job, then this Job Search Success Program is for you.    It's a step by step system that you can acccess when ever you want and need.
