Gives you a Plan of Achieving that Little Idea You've Had in Mind
Imagine it is the Day of Your RETIREMENT, it’s 4pm on a Friday afternoon and the company you work for has organised a party to celebrate your career and wish you all the best for the new chapter of your life. You’re standing there in the middle of the room, and all your colleagues are surrounding you, smiling at you, saying you’re so lucky to be enjoying this day. You start getting asked lots of career advice questions from some of the younger staff who have really looked up to you over the years. One of the staff has just asked you a question that immediately halts the relaxed state you were in and makes you drift off into your own thoughts..... “If you could have your time again,
what would you have done differently in your career?” You begin to think back and remember what aspirations you had when you were younger (and more motivated) and begin to remember that there were a couple of jobs you wanted to try and industries you wanted to explore, but you never got around to it. What is it you’ll regret on your retirement day? What is that little idea you have in the back of your mind what you would like to do? Once retirement comes, the clock stops on your career, and the opportunity is lost forever. All you can then do is regret that you never had a go. You’re living in Australia, a lucky country, where you are FREE to try whatever job you want. All you need is to put a little focus into the actions you take, and the decisions you make in your next career move. PLEASE don’t just try and forget about this idea, because it won’t work, your mind will always remember it, and it will keep coming back until you do something about it (or it’s too late, you retire, and then you spend the next 30 years wondering what would have happened if you gave this idea of yours a go.). Life is too short to procrastinate another year or even another 6 months. Get a pen and paper, and focus on creating a defined plan. The first step is to create a SMART GOAL.
